5 QA checks that catch 90% of documentation issues

Lineweights, dimensions, tags, coordination views, and sheet consistency—quick checks before issue.

1) Sheet set consistency

  • Check titleblocks, sheet numbers, revision blocks, and drawing titles match the index.
  • Confirm scales, north points, and legends are consistent across the set.

2) Dimension + level sanity

  • Spot-check critical dimensions (overall, room sizes, offsets) against the design intent.
  • Confirm levels (FFL/RL) are consistent between plans, sections, and details.

3) Annotation + tagging

  • Make sure tags reference the right details/sections/schedules.
  • Confirm keynotes and callouts aren’t duplicated or missing.

4) Lineweights + print test

  • Do one print-to-PDF check at issue size: line hierarchy should read instantly.
  • Look for faint text, clipped notes, and overlapping hatches.

5) Background coordination

  • Overlay consultant backgrounds (structural/MEP/civil) and check alignment.
  • Confirm grids, setouts, and penetrations don’t conflict in obvious areas.

A quick ‘issue-ready’ rule

  • If a reviewer can’t find key info in under 10 seconds, it needs a clarity pass.
